1970–1979
This was one of the most inspired periods of Ghai’s life as an artist. His ‘Images in Transformation’ series comes into focus and seek to fuse movement or process with space. Thus his oils such as Flight of a Bird into Ecstasy, Seed-Plant-Flower, The Dying Bird–a Melancholy, At the Swing: all have movement specified i.e. from bottom to top; from top to bottom or from left to right and so on. This engagement with fusing space, time and movement remains unprecedented in art.
