Tributes

One of the best and most undervalued artists of the late modern era; also a man of enormous integrity who did much for the many young artists he gathered around him. There are many who will miss him sorely, myself included. I pay homage to him with his wonderful painting, Dance of the Rickshaw Pullers, created in Banaras where he lived and taught in the mid-to-late sixties. While much of his imagery is very lyrical and poetic, he was also a trenchant satirist, evident above all in his prints and drawings; his Trimurti is a fine example. — Juliet Reynolds
